Alaska is the largest state of the United States of America which is surrounded by the Canada to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Arctic Ocean to the north. It is considered as one of the most important strategic place in the world.
Vitus Bering was the first European who led the expedition for the St. Peter in 1741, but it is considered that the first European settlement was in 1784. Alaska was ruled by Russia and United States and New Archangel was the first capital and later on Sitka became the capital for around a century.
Eskimos, Indians and Aleuts are included as the native population of the Alaska. Inupiat and Yupik are distinguished by their language and geographical features. According to 2000 census the population of Alaska was 626,932 and in 2008 the estimated population was 686,293 people.
Alaska has admitted to statehood on 3rd of January 1959 with Juneau the capital.
